Where rust still starts on these vehicles is the cavity side of those galvanized panels: inside doors, inside rocker panels, inside rear quarter panels, around the rear hatch lower lip on Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade, around the trunk lid edge on Elantra and Sonata, and in structural seams that the galvanizing layer does not fully cover. Galvanized panels are not a free pass on rust protection. They handle the visible body well; everything else still needs the cavity treatment that Step 1 penetrating oil provides. In practice the anti-perforation warranty rarely pays out because most rust visible from outside started as cavity rust or salt-exposure rust that the warranty excludes.
